Portola Counselor
Hello Portola Elementary Families,

My name is Robert Barreto, and I will be the new school counselor for the 2023-2024 School Year. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for the upcoming school year. I’m a lifelong resident of the city of Ventura and was fortunate enough to graduate from Buena High School. I attended San Francisco State University for my Bachelors Degree, as well as completed my Masters of Science from California Lutheran University. I pride myself in utilizing my education, as well as personal life experiences to better support students. Sports has always been big part of my life as I grew up locally playing both football, as well as baseball. I enjoy watching both the LA Rams and Dodgers. If I’m not at the game in person, you will find me enjoying quality time at home with my loved ones.

I previously worked at Juanamaria Elementary School where I was able to support students as well as families to the best of my abilities. I truly believe that challenging times are great opportunities for growth, especially amongst our students. I intend to develop positive connections with students, as well as make sure that I am always available to them to support in all ways possible. I pride myself in having a positive energy that will help to make this school year a great one.

I looked forward to getting to know students, and families this year. It is my hope that by supporting students, and helping to create a positive learning environment this will be a great school year for all of us.
